Rurality

Rurality workstream was established to monitor pharmaceutical issues that arise in controlled localities (rural areas).

The workstream looks at all issues that arise in rural areas that could affect availability of all pharmacy services and brings it to attention of the Committee.

The most common areas that arise are:

Applications to dispense under NHS in controlled locality

Minor relocations of pharmacies and dispensing doctors

Hardship cases – patients not able to access pharmaceutical services

Review of classification of areas – controlled or non controlled
